Online Training

Youth Protection - This must be completed every two years. This training is required by Council policy and may be completed online.

Safe swim defense - Required to run water related events. This training is available online.

Safety afloat - Required to boating and canoe relatd activities. This training is available online.

Venturing Adviser Fast Start Training - online.

Required Cub Scout Leader Training:

You are considered 100% trained and eligible to wear the "Trained" emblem on your uniform when you have completed the following:

Fast Start Training - Fast Start is tailored for each registered position and should be viewed as soon as possible after accepting a leadership role. Fast Start is the foundation of Basic Training. CUB SCOUT FAST START NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE!

New Leader Essencials - This training session is for all Scout leaders and covers the basic goals, principles, andmethods of the Scouting movement and is to be taken by all Scout leaders. ( Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Vrnturing )

Cub Scout Leader Specific Training - These training sessions vary depending on the leadership position, and are geared to give the leader the skills for their leadership position. ( Den Leaders and Assistants, Cubmasters and Assistants, Committee Chairs and members, etc.)

BALOO TRAINING IS REQUIRED FOR ANY ADULT WHO IS IN CHARGE OF PLANNING A PACK CAMPOUT.

BALOO - BASIC ADULT OUTDOOR LEADER ORIENTATION - AVAILABLE TO ALL TIGER, WOLF, BEAR, WEBELOS LEADERS AND PARENTS WHO WANT TO LEARN OUTDOOR SCOUTING SKILLS. LEARN SCOUT COOKING, KNOTS AND LASHINGS FOR THOSE GREAT GATEWAYS, WHAT EQUIPMENT YOU SHOULD BUY AND HOW TO USE IT. FIRST AID, CAMPFIRE PROGRAMS, AND JUST HOW TO HAVE A GREAT CAMPOUT AND HAVE ALOT OF FUN.

Required Boy Scout Leader Training:

Boy Scout Leader Specfic Training - There are two Leader Specific courses available to Boy Scout leaders:
Committee Member - This session covers all the positions within a troop commiittee and includes expositure to necessary documentation and responcibilites of each committee member. Available online.
Scoutmaster and Asistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training -
This training consists of three sessions: "Getting Started: the Role of the Scoutmaster in a Boy-Led Troop"," Lighting the Fire:The Outdoor Program and the Advancement Program" and " Keeping it Going: Program Planning and Troop Administration."

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills - This course may be conducted as a one weekend camping experience or as two Saturday day sessions. The course will introduce the participant to the basic outdoor skills needed in a troop enviorment. It includes basic skills such as use of wood tools, fire building, knots and lashings, first aid, Leave No Trace, and many other skills.

Wearing the Trained Patch

Boy Scout Committee Members are considered trained and may wear the the trained patch when they have completed: "Fast Start, New Leader Essencials, and Leader Specific Training fo the Troop Committee.

Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters are considered trained and may wear the the trained patch when they have completed: "Fast Start, New Leader Essencials, Scoutmaster and Asistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills

PINE ISLAND DISTRICT TRAINING EVENTS

Scoutmaster Training - presented by Pine Island and Seminole Districts

  • This training combines two BSA courses,"Positions Specific Training for Scoutmasters and Assistants " and "introductoin to Outdoor Leader Training".
  • This training should be proceded by "New Leader Essentials"
  • Attendance at all three sessions is required to wear the " Trained " patch.
